A few pages from my dummy book.
Here you are people, please scrutinize away! Just a couple of pages from my dummy book, i may have to print them again though as since I printed them all out I'm not sure about the font!
alright vickuuuyyy *brummie accent* these are really nice, and its nice that you have loads of white round each image because it focuses the viewer on the images which are all strong and colourful. personally like the font because its like traditional english handwriting but yeah maybe you could change it if its aimed at kids because it might be too fancy. i like your little spot drawings they frame the text nicely, i've been doing it to fill my awkward white spaces. good work vikram! x
the good thing is from far (reduced) it's quite appealing - close up the pencil marks need to be more considered - look carefully at your peers (as in picture book artists, not students) - the ones that use coloured pencils, and see how attention to mark making is paramount.
also, I presume these are all single pages - how are distributed into spreads - how does the page flow work throughout the book??
So far all L5 students are doing extremely well. You are not even near to third year yet, and most of you are already heading towards being professional in attitude and practice.
thanks chiu, yes i have done plenty of research into other artists, and should I have had enough time to do the double page spreads I would have liked to have used watercolour, to help with the blending problems. But I have managed to make a dummy book as some kind of solution to the assignment.
hahahahahah! I forgot they were dummy book pages - for dummy book pages they are fine - but I hope to see the final spreads more polished - I just remember how long it took you to understand polished for the gingerbread man!
