Mandrill with colour

Just moving on with the char development, here is my first attempt at my mandrill character in colour - the picture doesnt really do it justice, but i think it will fit in nicely with my pastelly jungle backgrounds!

Altho i think its missing something - it doesnt seem as good as my toucan :o/

  2. I think your mandrill is far better than your toucan. I immediately sensed a connection with your character, his mona lisa smile, curiously cocky eyes, and resigned arm pose - what's this mandrill been up to, one might ask?

  4. yeah i agree with chiu on this one, i like the resolution of your toucan drawings but this mandrill has more of a personality that encourages more inquisition from the reader. im sensing a slightly camp vibe from this one lol looks like its eyeing someone up.
u said it doesnt look as good as your toucan, i think thats because the toucan is more resolved, maybe the odd little thing just for example the hands and feet look a bit two dimensional and not as sharp as the toucan??? might just be me. love the overall drawing though :) x

  6. great stuff really different from your usual stuff :) i agree with the others this does have more character then then tucan and defines more of a style i prefer the roughness to this other then the neat coloring of the tucan.
